About Us

The Center for Hope, a program of the Urban Affairs Coalition, was established in 2012 to serve the homeless. Center for Hope’s two facilities in North Philadelphia annually provide close to 66,000 emergency shelter beds. Primary funding for the Center for Hope is provided by the city of Philadelphia’s Office of Homeless Services.

Each year through our emergency shelters we serve 700 men and 250 women, who are aged 18 and older without homes. These 1,000 individuals are referred through the City of Philadelphia’s centralized intake.

The Urban Affairs Coalition is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization that unites government, business, neighborhood, and individual initiative to improve the quality of life in the region, build wealth in urban communities, and solve emerging issues. The Coalition advocates for actionable policies and deliver programs that fill critical service gaps in the region. The official registration and financial information for the Urban Affairs Coalition may be obtained from the Pennsylvania Department of State by calling toll-free, within Pennsylvania, 1-800-732-0999. Registration does not imply endorsement.

Shelter Housing

We assist and support community members through specific life challenges and barriers to success and develop solutions to help them secure housing.

Case Management

Case managers meet with community members one-on-one to conduct intake, develop an individualized service plan and help them to meet the goals of those plans and achieve housing.

Support Services

We believe that by educating community members with valuable tools and information, we can help individuals combat the cycle of homelessness and poverty.

Help Us End Homelessness And Put Housing First!

Our “person-centered” service delivery model equips community members with skills that are vital to developing their ability to transition to more permanent housing.

Vision

Combat the cycle of homelessness and poverty and strengthen the community. Our interdependent pillars: Housing, Opportunities, Purpose, and Empowerment, represent a continuum of care for our community members and contribute to achieving the vision.

Mission

Move people forward with care and hope. Our mission is achieved by providing and maintaining safe emergency shelters for single homeless men and women aged 18 and older referred through the City of Philadelphia. We serve as a catalyst against homelessness providing community members with referrals to a wide array of comprehensive services, partnerships and resources.
