Each year, Center for Hope provides life-stabilizing emergency shelter to nearly 1,200 adults experiencing homelessness in Philadelphia. Across our two emergency housing sites—Center for Hope–Carlisle, a 149-bed men’s facility, and Center for Hope–Tioga, a 32-bed women’s facility—we serve approximately 800 men and 350 women, all age 18 and older and without stable housing.

All residents are referred through the City of Philadelphia’s centralized intake system, ensuring that those with the most urgent needs are connected to safe, supportive shelter. Through this coordinated approach, Center for Hope offers more than a bed; we provide stability, dignity, and a critical starting point for individuals working toward safety and long-term housing.

At Center for Hope, meeting basic needs is foundational to restoring stability and well-being. Every participant receives nutritional, medically safe breakfast, lunch, and dinner each day, prepared in accordance with the Office of Homeless Services’ nutrition guidelines. Through the dedication of our Food Service Team, more than 3,800 meals are served each week, with additional accommodations provided for individuals with dietary restrictions to ensure that every person who enters our doors receives healthy, hearty meals.

In partnership with the Office of Homeless Services and the Philadelphia Health Management Corporation, Center for Hope delivers essential on-site medical care to some of Philadelphia’s most medically vulnerable residents. Staffed by a licensed nurse and a certified nurse’s assistant, our medical services provide participants with regular health support, monitoring, and timely referrals to outside providers when additional care is needed. Together, these services ensure that residents’ nutritional and medical needs are addressed with consistency, compassion, and clinical integrity.
